Sunflower

Sunflower

What is it?

Native to North and South America, Sunflower is an easily recognizable crop with its tall stems and iconic yellow petals, which resemble the sun and inspired its name. The sunflower’s oils and fruits are consumed around the world and used for a variety of health and home benefits.

How does it help skin?

Containing high levels of essential fatty acids and vitamins, sunflowers improve skin hydration and help maintain a healthy skin barrier composed of lipids and ceramides. Sunflower helps to reinforce a strengthened skin barrier, with a reduction in excess water loss keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized.

Did you know?

Young sunflowers can exhibit sun-following behavior throughout the day as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. As sunflowers mature, they stop tracking the sun and face eastward.

Why did we choose it?

The sunflower is an incredibly sustainable plant. It’s practically drought-resistant and is even used to remove toxins from contaminated soils. So in addition to sunflower seed oil being great for the skin, the flower itself is kind to the environment!
